Who We Serve

Commercial landscape work isn't one-size-fits-all. The scope at a car wash is different from a tilt-wall complex. We focus on four segments and know each one well enough to bid them right, coordinate with your GC, and hit your CO date.

🏪

Strip Centers & Retail

Parking field medians, entrance bed planting, hydromulch or sod on detention pond banks, and irrigation systems designed for the long run. We coordinate with GCs on build-out schedules and CO requirements.

🍽️

Restaurants

Entrance planting, irrigation, and installation timed to opening day. Where the scope calls for it, we handle decorative water features and limited specialty groundcover. The exterior sets expectations before a guest walks through the door.

🚗

Car Washes

Bull rock over sod is our deliberate material call for car wash sites — it handles heavy runoff, resists heat, and requires almost no maintenance. We've completed multiple Quick Quack Car Wash locations with Lonestar Builders across Houston.

🏗️

Tilt-Wall & Industrial Complexes

Entry planting, parking field landscaping, and detention pond stabilization via hydromulch or sod — delivered to GC specs and coordinated around civil and concrete schedules. We read plans, pull permits, and hit CO milestones.

Get Us Involved

The best commercial outcomes happen when we're part of the conversation before the scope is finalized — not after concrete is poured.

01

Commercial Landscape Installation

Getting ground covered and plants established on a commercial site is erosion control, city compliance, and CO readiness — not just aesthetics. We select materials based on what each zone of your site actually needs, not a default spec.

Hydromulch & Sod

Hydromulch & Sod

Hydromulch — grass seed sprayed with a mulch-and-tackifier slurry — is our preferred solution for large open areas like detention pond banks and post-grading fields. It establishes within two weeks, handles slopes sod can't, and is cost-effective at scale. Where immediate coverage is required, we install sod in St. Augustine, Zoysia, or Bermuda varieties matched to the site.

Rock Groundcover

Bull rock, granite, and large stone — specified and installed for parking lot bed imbeds, entry plant beds, and high-runoff areas where turf can't perform. Rock groundcover handles heavy drainage, resists Houston's summer heat, and requires virtually no maintenance.

02

Commercial Irrigation & Drainage

Irrigation is the backbone of every commercial project we take on. As a State of Texas Licensed Irrigator and Backflow Tester, we design and install systems engineered for the site — zoned correctly, code-compliant, and built to run without constant service calls. In Houston's climate, getting irrigation right isn't optional.

Detention & Retention Pond Irrigation

Irrigation systems designed for detention and retention basin banks — supporting hydromulch germination and sod establishment in areas that must manage Houston's heavy storm volume. Properly irrigated pond banks establish faster, hold better, and pass city inspection.

Decorative Water Features

Water features are a specialty — not a side service. The Bluethumb name and logo come from decades of designing and building water features that become the defining element of a property. Koi and ornamental ponds, fountains, water walls, and rills — we design, build, and plumb them completely.

Rills & Linear Water Channels

Rills — narrow linear channels designed to run water alongside walkways, through plazas, or between planting beds — bring movement and sound to commercial landscapes. We design, build, and plumb rill systems as part of a complete landscape scope.

04

Tree Preservation During Construction

Houston takes tree preservation seriously — and so do the municipalities that issue your Certificate of Occupancy (CO). We work actively with GCs during construction to protect trees on site, coordinated as part of the build from day one. When trees need to come out, we manage that too through vetted subcontractors, so you have one point of contact.
